東華大學李光中教授榮獲「林業及自然保育有功人士」 里山倡議推動貢獻卓著 NDHU Professor Kuang-Chung Lee Honored as a “Distinguished Contributor to Forestry and Nature Conservation” for His Outstanding Achievements in Promoting the Satoyama Initiative

本校環境暨海洋學院自然資源與環境學系李光中教授榮獲農業部「林業及自然保育有功人士」獎,表彰其在里山倡議與生物多樣性保育的卓越貢獻。10月18日「綠色奧斯卡」表揚大會上,李教授與14位得獎者及3組團體共同受獎,農業部常務次長杜文珍肯定其結合學術、民間與公部門力量,為臺灣自然資源保全活用作出重要貢獻。

林業保育署的推薦理由如下:東華大學李光中教授為臺灣「里山倡議」的重要推動先驅,創建「臺灣里山倡議夥伴關係網絡」,成功促成28個國內單位加入國際網絡,進一步串聯社區林業與生態綠網,推動具韌性的在地社區發展。其成果不僅厚植臺灣生態基盤,更使臺灣經驗成為國際典範,展現人與自然和諧共生的永續願景。

東華大學徐輝明校長表示,李教授的努力讓東華成為台灣里山倡議先驅,激勵師生投入鄉村地區永續發展。東華去年也特別在校級永續發展中心下設立「里山里海辦公室」,由李教授擔任辦公室主任。此獎彰顯東華在台灣里山倡議國內網絡與國際合作的領導角色,未來東華大學將持續推動,打造永續臺灣。

Professor Kuang-Chung Lee from the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, College of Environmental Studies and Oceanography at National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), has been awarded the “Distinguished Contributor to Forestry and Nature Conservation” by the Ministry of Agriculture. The award recognizes his remarkable contributions to the Satoyama Initiative and biodiversity conservation. At the award ceremony—hailed as the “Green Oscars”—held on October 18, Professor Lee was honored alongside 14 other individuals and 3 groups. Deputy Minister Wen-Chen Tu commended Professor Lee for his success in integrating academic, civic, and governmental efforts to promote the conservation and sustainable use of Taiwan’s natural resources.

The Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Ministry of Agriculture provided the following recommendation: Professor Kuang-Chung Lee of the NDHU is a key pioneer in promoting the Satoyama Initiative in Taiwan. He founded the Taiwan Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (TPSI), successfully facilitating the participation of 28 domestic organizations in the international network. His efforts have further linked community forestry with Taiwan Ecological Network, advancing resilient local community development. His achievements have not only strengthened Taiwan’s ecological foundation but also made Taiwan’s experience an international model, showcasing a sustainable vision of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

NDHU President Hui-Mi Hsu stated that Professor Lee’s dedication has positioned NDHU as a pioneer of the Satoyama Initiative in Taiwan, inspiring faculty and students to engage in sustainable rural development. Last year, NDHU further established the Satoyama-Satoumi Office under the University Center for Sustainable Development, with Professor Lee serving as its director. This recognition highlights NDHU’s leadership role in both domestic and international collaborations under the Satoyama Initiative. Moving forward, NDHU will continue to advance its efforts toward building a sustainable Taiwan.
