聯合國於 2015 年提出 17 項永續發展目標（SDGs），強調透過全球合作，結合產官學研及全體公民的參與，共同實踐永續發展目標。
國立東華大學為實踐永續發展目標，於 2020 年創校 26 週年當日，由時任校長趙涵㨗博士在專家學者與業界人士見證下，簽署「永續發展目標宣言」，期盼透過教學、研究及校務運作，落實永續發展理念。
2025 年，徐輝明校長賡續簽署「永續發展目標宣言」，延續本校對永續發展的承諾，持續推動永續理念融入校務治理與發展。
In 2015, the United Nations adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the importance of global collaboration and the collective participation of government, industry, academia, research institutions, and citizens in achieving sustainable development.
To advance these goals, National Dong Hwa University marked its 26th anniversary in 2020 with the signing of the “Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.” The declaration was signed by then-President Han-Chieh Chao in the presence of academic experts and industry representatives, reaffirming the University’s commitment to advancing sustainable development through teaching, research, and institutional operations.
In 2025, President Hui-Mi Hsu reaffirmed the University’s commitment to sustainable development by signing the declaration, continuing its efforts to integrate sustainability into university governance and institutional development.
