聯合國 2015 年發表 17 項永續發展目標（SDGs），強調透過全球合作，及產官學研、全體公民參與等，共同實踐永續發展目標。
國立東華大學為實踐永續發展目標，於 2020 年創校 26 周年當日，由時任校長趙涵㨗博士在專家學者與業界人士見證下，簽署「永續發展目標宣言」，期盼未來藉由教學、研究和運作，實現永續發展。
In 2015, the United Nations announced the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the importance of global collaboration and the joint participation of government, industry, academia, research institutions, and all citizens to achieve sustainable development.
To advance these goals, National Dong Hwa University marked its 26th anniversary in 2020 with the signing of the “Sustainable Development Goals Declaration.” The declaration was signed by then-President Dr. Han-Chieh Chao in the presence of academic experts and industry representatives, demonstrating the University’s commitment to realizing sustainable development through teaching, research, and institutional operations.
